About Us

Eugene and Ellen moved to LaCrosse, Washington in August 2006. As a science and math teacher, Gene was looking for employment in the Pacific Northwest in a small town where we could raise our children where neighbors know neighbors and where friends are for a lifetime and where children get noticed. We believe in the adage, "It takes a village to raise a child."

LaCrosse fit the bill and we moved!

Ellen has a Master's Degree in Social Work, a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, and is a former LPN. Because she wants to be available to her three sons if the need arises, she did not choose to seek employment in those fields, but has undertaken an unrequited youthful interest in journalism.

It is our belief that the many years LaCrosse has been without a town newspaper has not helped to stymie the slow decline of LaCrosse's business district and indeed may have contributed to it.

Our goal as a newspaper is to create a context where local issues can be both reported and discussed. Where events can be advertized, and families can plan for them.... and where children (and adults) can go to later to see their pictures and hear their adventures, and glory in their successes!

So we begin this quest and we invite you to join us in the ride.
